Dolores Sharpe Milligan, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday, April 3, 2017. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 7, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, followed by a graveside service at Waco Memorial Park. Rev. Ron Durham will be officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 7, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Friday.

Dolores was born in Detroit, Texas, on November 28, 1929, to Homer and Johnnie Shiver Sharpe. She graduated from Paschal High School in Ft. Worth in 1946.

She met her true love, Bobby Drude Milligan, at Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Ft. Worth. They were married September 23, 1947. She and Bob lived in Chicago, Illinois, Atlanta, Georgia, Smithfield, Virginia, and Hurst, Texas, before settling in Waco in 1964. They were both very active at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, where Dolores taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was active in the church Neighbor’s Club, where she taught sewing and English to international women living in Waco.

She and Bob loved to travel. They were re-baptized in the Jordan River, and they waltzed the Viennese Waltz in Vienna, Austria. They rode a hot-air balloon in Colorado and a camel in Jordan.

Dancing was a joy that she and Bob shared all of their married life. Their love for each other was an inspiration to their children and demonstrated to them what a loving marriage should look like.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Johnny Sharpe; husband, Bob Milligan; brother, James Henry Sharpe; and son-in-law, Tom Lucenay.

Dolores is survived by daughter, Susan Lucenay of Hewitt; son, Mike Milligan and Dena Lee of Georgetown; daughter, Karen Richter and Charles of Chaska, Minnesota; and son, David Milligan and Cindy of Waco. She leaves behind 9 grandchildren: Jennifer Brown and Brandon of Houston, Bridget Lucenay of Austin, Wendy Middleton and John of Hewitt, Dr. Mindy Reeves and Simon of Manchester, England, Dr. Mitzi Taylor and Sam of Rangiora, New Zealand, Sarah Szafranski and Derek of Charleston, South Carolina, Allison Shead and Mitch Kelm of Minneapolis, Ian Milligan and Jaygen of Waco, Jared Milligan and Courtney of Austin, and Samantha Lee and Beau Blackshear of Waco; and 11 great-grandchildren: Austin, Cooper, Ben, Charlotte, Crewe, Laurel, Mackenzie, Sonora, Baylee, Paxton, and Murphy. Worth; brother-in-law, Dick Camp, 98, of Friendswood; and nephews, Dale Camp and Martha of Pearland and Doug Camp and Paula of Spring.
