Obituary for J. Roger Sanson

J. Roger Sanson, 81, left this earth to go to Heaven July 1, 2017. Services will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 7, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. Frank Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 6, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey.

Roger Sanson was born in Greensburg, Indiana, on March 14, 1936. After graduating from Burney High School in 1954, he took an agricultural course at Purdue University, before returning to take over running his family’s farm. He was in the Indiana National Guard for three years. He married Luella Robbins in 1958, and they had four children. He eventually left farming to work as a manufacturing engineer. His career moved him to Texas in 1978. His last position was the facilities manager for Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. After retiring he moved to Waco and became active in Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, as a member of the choir and in his Sunday school class. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and an ordained Deacon.

Roger Sanson was preceded in death by his father, John D. Sanson; his mother, Anna B. Sanson; and his brother, Richard L. Sanson.

He is survived by the love of his life, Luella; and children, Kathryn Sanson, Rebecca and Joel Salazar and their children, Robin, John, and Ruth Salazar; Melinda and Frank Bull and their children, Lisa, Natalie, and Sarah Bull; and Barbara and Alan Shiller and their children, Lauren, Ben, Alex, and Grant Shiller. He is also survived by his sister, Roberta Wilson and her sons, Tom and David Wilson; and sister-in-law, Marjean Sanson and her children, Bruce and LeAnn.
Pallbearers will be Dan Curtis, Tom Wilson, David Wilson, John Salazar, Ben Shiller, and Alex Shiller.

Truett Theological Seminary, Baylor University, University Development, One Bear Place #97050, Waco TX 76798-7026, or visit www.baylor.edu/giving, Truett Dean’s Excellence Fund as the designation, in memory of J.
