Obituary for Russell B. Carter

Russell B. Carter, 52, passed away September 3, 2017. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 8, at Meadowbrook Baptist Church with Dr. Cary Killough officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 7, in the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room.

Russell B. Carter was born in Odessa, Texas, and grew up in west Texas. After graduating from Sweetwater High School in Sweetwater, Texas, he began serving in the United States Army, both on active duty and in the reserves. He served his country for 17 years. Additionally, Russell earned a bachelor’s degree in Theology from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. Russell worked for L3 Communications for the past ten years. Known for his love of all things outdoors, Russell thoroughly enjoyed camping, boating, grilling, and taking care of his beloved lawn. He was a very hard-working man and never ceased to amaze anyone with the things he knew how to create, build, or fix. Russell was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan, even when they weren’t playing up to his standards. Above all, he loved spending quality time with his family and friends, who knew him to be loving, selfless, and always the life of the party. He was a man of God and a devoted member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. His family and friends find comfort in knowing he is now in the presence of the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his mothers, Patsy Ann Carter and Jo Ann Carter.

Survivors include his wife, Dottie Carter; son, Kyle Carter and daughter-in-law, Katie Carter; daughter, Jillian Cook and son-in-law, Cody Cook; and daughter, Emma Carter, all of Robinson, Texas; father, Chester Carter of Blackwell, Texas; brother, Garry Mensch from Arizona; sister, Rebecca Kelly and husband, Jimmy Kelly of Brownwood, Texas; brother, Ben Carter of Sweetwater, Texas; brother, Steven Carter and wife, Marci Carter, of Waco, Texas; brother, Scott Carter and wife, Carrie Carter, of Southlake, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
