I want my parents to have the funeral they desire, but I’m not sure how to start that conversation. Any advice?

The holidays can be a fitting time to discuss funeral wishes with your family members. There is ample downtime and quiet mornings to converse over a warm cup of coffee. Keep in mind that every person is at a different stage in their planning process, so conversations may range from the types of flowers on display to determining a burial location. Whether the conversation is one-on-one or requires siblings and additional family members, the holidays allow for togetherness and create a safe and positive environment for you to discuss their wishes. After getting an understanding of their desires, you may choose to cover all or part of their funeral costs as a gift of appreciation.
