August 5, 1928 — April 2, 2005

A. J. Cole, of Waco, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2005 at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 1pm Monday, April 4, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Chuck Tredwell officiating. Alva Jean was born August 5, 1928 to A. W. and Ruth Slocum in Cresson, Texas. She was a graduate of Baylor University, chairman of St. Paul’s School Board, and was a senior warden of St. Paul’s Vestry. She also served on the Symphony Board and the Art Center Board. Survivors include daughters, Gail Hoy of Conroe and Jana Bertrand of Dallas; sons Graham Hank Cole of Waco and Wayne Slocum Cole of Dallas; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A. J. loved her family, friends, church, and community. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Discretionary Fund.
