Agnes Dean Barron Washington November 21, 1912 – October 12, 2006 Agnes Dean Washington of Waco, devoted to family, friends, and her faith, passed away peacefully October 12, 2006. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 am Monday, October 16, 2006 at Waco Memorial Park with Rev. Mark Wible officiating. The family will receive friends 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Sunday, October 15 at the funeral home. Agnes was born November 21, 1912 in Jewett, Texas to Albert and Fannie Barron. She graduated from Groesbeck High School and received a teaching degree from Baylor University. She taught school for 10 years in rural Limestone County. During WWII. Agnes and Guy Washington left Texas for New York City where both worked at the Military Port of Embarkation. After they returned to Texas Mr. Washington took a position as Assistant Director of the Veterans Affairs Hospital with service throughout Texas and other parts of the country, retiring in Waco. The family was long time members of Highland Baptist Church. Agnes taught Sunday school, active in various offices of WMU and member of the Friendship Class. She enjoyed painting and crafts. She and her husband loved to fish Texas lakes and also fished in Minnesota. Her deep faith sustained her throughout her long life. The family requests donations be made to Highland Baptist Church or the charity of your choice. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Guy Washington. Agnes is survived by her only daughter, Barbara Dean Rogers and son- in- law Carl Rogers of Dallas, Tx., and niece, Frances Mahaffey and many other beloved nieces and nephews.
