Anita Elizabeth Coleman

Anita Elizabeth Coleman of Fairfield passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Dec.15, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home with the Rev. Brad Brittain officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Anita was born December 26, 1921, in Mertens, Texas, to Harry P. and Ruby Bookout. She attended schools in Mertens and Bynum, and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1939 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She married Clifford E. Coleman on January 10, 1947, in Denton, Texas. He received the Purple Heart during World War II in the Philippines. Clifford preceded her in death on February 2, 2003. Anita was a receptionist at several beauty salons in Waco for many years. She was a soloist in churches and was also a soloist for Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey and other funeral homes. For 20 years Anita sang for the Community Church. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was in the Galilean Sunday School Class. She was also preceded in death by her son, Keith A. Coleman, on July 14, 2001; and by sisters, Jane Graff, Pat Smith, and Evelyn McCord. She is survived by a sister, Peggy Smith and husband, Don, of Mabank; sister-in-law and caretaker, Floys Little and husband, Jerrell, of Teague; sister in-law, Juliet Coleman; brother-in-law, Joe Carter Coleman and wife, Mary, of Arlington; special friend, Naomi Fentress of Waco; her nephew, David Little; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
