Barry Clifton Gross, age 68, of Waco, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 9, 2016, with his brother at his side. A graveside service honoring Barry’s life will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 11, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Barry graduated from Richfield High School in Waco in 1965. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Baylor University in 1970. Barry was co-owner of Gross Yowell LTD, a building supply company in Waco founded by his father and his father’s cousin, Orville Yowell, in 1946. He worked at Gross Yowell his entire life – working for a short time at the Gross Yowell Killeen location. The employees at Gross Yowell have been his extended family. Barry was known for his ever-steady work ethic. He loved to grow native Texas plants and wildflowers. His bright red poppies are a sight to behold in the spring! Barry’s love for working with raw land kept him busy year round. He loved Baylor University and enjoyed following Baylor sports, especially football and Lady Bears basketball. Barry was preceded in death by his parents, W.O. “Audy,” Jr. and Dorothy Bell May Gross. He is survived by a family who loved him: his brother and wife, Bob and Varyn Gross of McGregor; his nephew and wife, Taylor and Beka Gross of McGregor; and his niece and husband, Caitlin and Jamie McCoy of Waco; great-niece, Marley Jo McCoy, and soon-to-be-born great-nephew and namesake, Bowen Clifton Gross. The family would like to say a special thanks to Bluebonnet Home Health and Hospice services for the loving care they provided. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mission Waco at 1315 N. 15th Street, Waco, TX 76707 or www.missionwaco.org.
