February 8, 1918 — April 18, 2011

Bette Pape Skinner February 8, 1918 - April 18, 2011 Bette Pape Skinner of Waco, Texas, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 18, 2011. A celebration of her life will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 21, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jeff Fisher officiating. Bette was born February 8, 1918, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pape. She graduated from Tulsa Central High in 1935. Bette attended Stephens College and Tulsa University. Bette married Bill Reynolds in 1937 and lived in Houston until 1944. They then moved to Corpus Christi where she resided until 2000. In 1960 she married Scott Skinner. While in Corpus Christi, Bette worked as an interior decorator and volunteered at her church, Good Shepherd, as well as many other charity organizations. Bette moved to Waco in 2000. She quickly became active at St. Albans and easily made many good friends. Bette was a "people person" who never let her macular degeneration interfere with being among friends. She loved animals and volunteered at Fuzzy Friends answering the phone until she could no longer drive. She also was a member of St. Albans Guild. Bette was preceded in death by Bill Reynolds and Scott Skinner; and one son, Burke Reynolds. She is survived by her son, Mark Reynolds and wife, Elaine, of Waco; grandchildren, Lori Martin, Becky Reynolds, Shelley Buhner, Ryan Reynolds, Reagan Rowland, Ashley Brooks and David Rhoden. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren. Our family would like to thank Sherrie Stickley and Phoenix Care for their faithful love they showed to Bette. We also thank the 4th Floor nurses at St. Catherine and Providence Hospice for their sweet Christian love. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation." 2 Corinthians 5:17. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Albans Episcopal Church, Fuzzy Friends or Providence Hospice. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.WilkirsonHatchBailey.com.
