Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m., Sunday, July 11, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. in Waco. Betty was born on August 18, 1927, in Miami, Florida. She moved to Waco with her family in 1959. She was a founding member of Lake Shore Baptist Church. She held the position of vice-chair for McLennan County Republican party in the 1960’s through the early 1970’s and also served as a delegate to the state and national Republican conventions during that time. Betty married Sam Boyd on August 30, 1974 and moved to Granbury where she has lived since. One of her most enjoyable contributions was to serve as the president of Granbury Opera Guild and chair-person for Opera House Fundraising committee. In addition, she was a friend to everyone in her community and shared her incredible gifts of hospitality and laughter with them all. Her most treasured moments came with her family whom she adored. She was able to embrace a large family, serve them, teach them, and care for them. “Boots”, as she was affectionately named by her first grandchild, was a grandmother to her grandchildren and their friends, and made herself available to her family. She leaves a legacy of love, friendship, kindness, and generosity. She loved her family and friends unconditionally as she reflected the love of her Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include sons, Jim Meyer and wife Carolyn, Larry Meyer and Lynn, and Billy Meyer and wife Deborah; grandchildren, Mike Meyer, Brady Meyer, Cole Bucy, Adam Meyer, Allison Bucy, Jessica Meyer, Christie Meyer, Jason Bucy, Jennifer Meyer, and Joshua Meyer, sister La Hunter and husband Ferrell, a niece Dana, and nephew Lee; two stepsons and their families, and two stepdaughters and their families.
