Johnson, Beverly Kay Beverly Kay Johnson, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at a local hospital after a short battle with cancer. Services will be Saturday, July 9 at 9:30 AM at Bosqueville United Methodist Church, 7327 Rock Creek Rd. with Rev. Lisa Baumgartner officiating. Visitation with the family will be Friday, July 8 from 6 to 8:00 PM at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque. Beverly, known by all friends and family as “Kay”, was born February 27, 1939 in Victoria, Texas. She was active in the Order of Rainbow Girls and was honored by being named “Worthy Advisor”. She attended schools in Victoria and graduated from Patti-Welder High School in 1957. After moving to Waco, she completed the MCC Nursing program and became an RN and later at the Waco VAMC, a certified psychiatric nurse. She was active throughout her life in church work, helping in social needs through the inner city and senior ministries programs and participated in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She retired from the VA in 1999 and enjoyed gatherings of family and friends, travel, antique shopping and crafting. She was preceded in death by her father, R. C. Schmidt of Victoria. She is survived by her husband, Bill J. Johnson; son, Jeff K. Johnson and wife Jennifer and granddaughter, Olivia Renay of Dripping Springs; mother, Mildred Schmidt of Victoria; sisters, Kathy Esterak of El Paso, Karen Wilburn of Victoria and brother, Dennis and wife Rachael of Austin. She is also survived by eight nieces and nephews, five aunts and uncles, six cousins, her loving church family and many dear, longtime friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Bosqueville United Methodist Church or your favorite charity.
