Blanche Curbo

February 12, 1913 — January 13, 2004

CURBO, BLANCHE Calla ''Blanche'' Curbo, 90, of Waco went to be with The Lord Tuesday, Jan 13, 2004, at a local nursing home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16 at Waco Memorial Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Ben Disney officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Blanche was born February 12, 1913, to John and Candis Cochran in Summerville, Georgia. She graduated from Summerville High School in 1930, and moved to Waco shortly after graduation. She attended 4C Business College and was employed as a secretary at the telephone company. Blanche married J.T. Curbo in 1941. They made their home in Waco, but spent their happiest days together fishing and boating at their cabin at Lake Whitney. Blanche was a member of Service Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the United Methodist Women’s organization and received countless honors for her service to the community and church. She moved to the cabin at Lake Whitney in 1973 and continued to be active in the community, participating in the Clifton Garden Club and other civic organizations. She enjoyed working in her yard on the cliffs of the lake, and bird watching. Blanche loved to travel and was blessed to have her dear friends Ethel and Marie along for the ride. By 1992 she had visited all 50 states, and many places overseas including the Holy Land. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Tim and Mike, and sister, Sybil Faubus. Survivors include sister, Bernice Jud and husband, Eugene of Waco; granddaughters, Kristen Curbo Zander of Lorena and Allison Curbo of Austin; great-grandsons, Tyler and Jackson Zander of Lorena and their father, Jeff; niece, Ann Griggs and husband, Jack of Abilene; nephew, Don Faubus and wife, Pam of Tyler; and numerous other nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Providence Hospice and staff of 2 East at Quality Care of Waco for the excellent care and support they provided Blanche and our family in the last weeks of her life.
