BARKER, BOB Bobby Bob Joe Barker, 68 of Hewitt, Texas passed away Friday, September 13, 2002. Services will be held at 1:30pm Monday, September 16 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco with Rev. John Crowder and Rev. Don Cowan officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 3-4:30pm Sunday, September 15 at the funeral home. Mr. Barker was born September 9, 1934 in Rising Star, Texas to Clifford and Rossie Barker. The family moved to Cisco where Bob grew up and was educated. Bob will be remembered for his great sense of humor. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Barker was very active in the Boy Scouts of America program. “Mr. B”, as he was known by his scout troop, served as Scout Master of Troop 301, District Commissioner, District Adult Training Chairman, Eagle Board of Review and Wood Badge. He was presented with the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award as well as many other awards. Mr. Barker was a member of the East Cisco Baptist Church. He attended the Waco First Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Barker was a longtime star route mail carrier before moving to Waco in 1970 when he went to work for Allstate Insurance Company as a property adjuster. In 1979 he worked for Crow and Roberts Body and Mechanical Shop as service manager. In 1986, he went back to adjusting and worked for Property Damage Appraisers until his retirement in September 2000. Mr. Barker was united in marriage to Margie Cook December 3, 1954, in Cisco, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Tommie Morgan. Survivors include wife, Margie of Hewitt; daughter and son-in-law, Pam P.J. and Dr. Steven Little of Waco; sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Marceile Barker of Colleyville and Craig and Wendy Barker of Hewitt; grandchildren, Louis, Jana, and Lindsay Little, Jacob, Andrew, Stephanie and Bethany Barker; sister and brother-in-law, Dixie and Lafoye Lenz of Cisco; brother-in-law, Glynn Morgan of Brownwood; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janet and Dr. Fred Howell of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; mother-in-law, Ila Wilson of Cisco, father-in-law, Jasper Cook and wife, Evelyn of Austin; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jake Roberts, Bob Wofford, Jimmy Shinn, David Carver, Joel Stromberg and Dennis Debbendener. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Schiemenz, Al Lynch and members of the Heart of Texas RV Club. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Boy Scouts of America.
