Bobbie Muhl March 26, 1919 April 17, 2008 Bobbie Louise Muhl passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008 at her home. Memorial Mass will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 20, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 9656 Elk Road, Axtell, Texas 76624 with Monsignor Isidore Rozyki officiating. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 19 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home with visitation until 9 p.m. Bobbie was born March 26, 1919, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Robert and Jesse Davis Duckworth. She grew up and attended school in Houston and received nursing training at St. Joseph's Hospital, Houston. She married James Francis Frank Muhl September 21, 1940, their marriage spanning 64 years at his death in December, 2004. Bobbie will be remembered for her generosity, her religious conviction, her zest for life, her endurance and enduring love for family, friends, and those in need. Her devotion to God and her faith was exhibited through her actions as mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family, and as aunt and godmother to her nieces, nephews, and friends. She practiced her faith through her example and as a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, as a 60 year member of The Catholic Study Club; and as a member of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and St. Anne's Altar Society for many years. She was food preparer and driver for Meals on Wheels, was a 10+ gallon blood donor for the Red Cross, was awarded a Texas Life PTA membership for her dedication to school children, and was instrumental in helping establish the H&H Water System. Her vocation was centered on her family, loving them and caring for them. Her avocation was community service, especially in volunteering for the Democratic Party, Central Texas Democratic Women, and campaigns for local elected officeholders including most particularly Congressman Chet Edwards. She served as a precinct chair for 32 years. March 29, 2008, Bobbie was honored at the McLennan County Democratic Convention for her service, a resolution of which she was very proud. Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, her parents, two infant daughters and daughter, Sarah Lou Muhl Castle, her cousin Geraldine Friedel, and her five sisters-in-law, who had adopted her as their sister. She is survived by her son, James F. Muhl Jr. Jill of Hallsburg, Mary Mann James "Dude" of Elk, and Bobbie Jo Muhl Anderson Danny of Dime Box; her nine grandchildren, Jimmy Muhl Melinda of West, Kirk Muhl Hollee of Lexington, Megan Jaska Jimmy of Leroy, Cari Mann of Elk, Jamie Mann fianc Nikki of Elk, Stuart and Aubry Anderson of Dime Box, and Emily and Eric Anderson of Fredericksburg, and honorary grandson Ethan Deike of Hallsburg. She is also survived by her five great grandchildren, Jacob, Haley, Kylee, Kenzie, Jordan and Ryleigh; her cousins, Judy, Teena, Walt, and Robin Friedel, and ten nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be O.L. Sharp Jr., Mickey Sharp, O.S. Holmes, Jr., Louis Moncus, J.I. Muhl, and Jamie Muhl., with honorary pallbearers Martin H. Zapalac and Donald McLeaish.
