Cecil Elmo Bishop, Jr.

July 22, 1932 — December 11, 2014

Cecil Elmo Bishop, Jr. July 22, 1932 - December 11, 2014 Cecil Elmo Bishop, Jr., of Houston passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014. His family graveside service will be December 15, at Waco Memorial Park. Cecil Bishop was born in Hillsboro, Texas. He and his family moved around central Texas during World War II. He graduated from Waco High School and then Baylor University. He met his wife, Shirley, at Baylor and they were married in 1954. Both Cecil and Shirley were passionate supporters of Baylor, attending most football home games, even during the "bad years". Cecil served three years in the Air Force and after his discharge, he joined Shell Oil Company. One of his important and enjoyable assignments was being Personnel Coordinator for the corporate move from New York City to Houston in the early 1970s. At that time, it was the largest corporate move from NYC. Cecil and Shirley loved to travel, having visited over 60 countries and all 50 states in the United States of America. He delighted in his membership at Second Baptist Church, where he served for over twenty years in various positions in the Beacon Bible Study Class. He was a kind and loving father to daughters, Susan Bishop and Alison Davis; and grandchildren, Conner Davis and Courtney Davis.
