SMITH, CHARLES Charles Bruce Smith, 75, of Waco, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. A visitation and memorial service is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at the Lee Lockwood Scottish Rite Museum and Library, followed by a Masonic graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. Bruce was born December 21, 1929, in Brownwood, Texas to Charles Washington Smith and Sarah Louis Ross Smith. Charles Bruce graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1945 and attended Hardin College and University of Texas. He served as a Major in the Army upon his retirement in 1989. Charles Bruce moved to Dallas from Wichita Falls in 1963 and worked for Gifford Hill Company and WR Grace Company before moving to Waco in 1972, where he served as president of Richards Equipment Company, manager of Smith Industrial Supply, and Waco Industrial Supply. This devoted husband, father, and friend will be greatly missed for his compassion, wisdom, love, care, support, and love of life. Charles Bruce was Master of Gurley Lodge and Master of S. V. Teague Moody Lodge, member of Sharon Shrine in Tyler, and Membership Chairman of the Scottish Rite. Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Earline, of 24 years and children, Bruce Galen Smith, and wife, Paula of Frisco; Charles Scott Smith, and wife, Shultzie of Waco; Roger K. Smith of Dallas; his daughter, Norma Diviney, and husband, Cliff, of Grapevine; and sons, John Ronald Snow, and wife, Elenor, of Trophy Club; and Larry and Anna Lee Dunn of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Bruce and Earline have 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, and many very dear friends. Honorary pallbearers are Claude Ervin, Hugh Davis, Billy Dyess, Harold Jackson, Dale Townsend, Otis Elkins, Don Petrovic and Roger Wilson.
