Col Patricia “Pat” G. Guerrero March 17, 1916 – May 9, 2007 Ret. Col Patricia “Pat” G. Guerrero passed away on May 9, 2007 in Bryan, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 11:20 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Irudayaraj Nelapatti-Thomas as celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Rosary will be recited before mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pat was born March 17, 1916 to Julio Guerrero and Eduviges Garza in Satin, Texas. As a young child, her parents moved to Waco and she was educated in the Waco schools. She received her nurses training at Charity Hospital, New Orleans, LA. Her nursing career began at the VA hospital in Waco in 1945. During the Korean conflict she entered active military service. During her career, she served at hospitals in Panama, Illinois, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Texas. She finished her career at the Sam Rayburn VA in Bonham, TX where she was chief of nursing service. She remained U.S. Army Reserve and was promoted to the rank of Colonel in March 1974. .She retired with more than 30 years of service. Pat was a devoted member of St. Francis Catholic church and then at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Diocese and member of the Alter Society. She was a person with a true servant’s heart. Pat, along with her sister Clara, participated in several local charities including meals on wheels and Carritas. Her hobbies were bowling, reading and knitting. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Angelo G. and Juan G. Guerrero, and sisters Clara G. Guerrero and Luisa G. Sanchez. She is survived by her sister, Pauline G. Menchaca, sister-in-laws Niki, Josie and Maria Garcia and numerous nephews and nieces and their families.
