Dorothy Elizabeth Maggard October 4, 1923 - June 9, 2015 Dorothy Elizabeth Maggard of Waco known by family and friends to be always on the move!, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Services will be 9:00 a.m., Saturday, June 13, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waco with the Father Paul Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Rosary will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 12, with visitation to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Dorothy was born October 4, 1923, to Mary and Steve Neckar, Sr., in Elk, Texas, where she was raised on a farm with her eight siblings. She graduated from Lorena High School and following graduation, she moved to the city to work for Western Union. She met Roy Maggard, an Army Air Corp pilot in training at Blackland Air Field in Waco. Upon his return from the war they married and over the next 20 years they built their lives together at Air Force bases across the U.S., including an overseas adventure in the Azores Islands, before making Waco their home. Dorothy was an astute business woman having worked for Family Counseling & Children's Services as well as a legal secretary. She found her passion as a real estate professional and that career spanned more than three decades - right up to the time of her passing. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she served as President of the St. Mary's Guild. She also served as President of the National Council of Catholic Women. She loved being with her family and hosting all the holidays and special occasions with the numerous children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives, and close family friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers; and one sister. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Maggard and wife, Judy, of Waco, and Stephen Maggard and wife, Lynne, of Frisco, Texas; five grandchildren, Scott Maggard and wife, Lauren, of Dallas, Chris Maggard and wife, Keri, of Keller, Texas; Sean Maggard of Austin, Chad Maggard and wife, Amy, of Plano, Texas, and Lauren Elizabeth Cutshaw and husband, Matthew, of Lewisville, Texas; eight great-grandchildren, Seth, Peyton, Aaron, John, Eleanor and Roslyn Maggard, and Ethan and Caleb Cutshaw; and two brothers, Albin and Ernest Neckar.
