Ed McKamie June 14, 1925 - April 10, 2006 Ed McKamie of Waco passed away Monday, April 10, 2006. Services will be at 1:30 PM Thursday, April 13, at Richfield Christian Church with Rev. David Story officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be at 6:30 PM Wednesday, April 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Ed was born June 14, 1925 in Moody, TX to Henry and Ida McKamie. He was the Valedictorian of his graduating class at Moody High School. He and Lura were married in Corpus Christi, Texas May 20, 1949. He was a leader in the electrical wholesale industry, holding executive positions as Vice President of Dealers Electrical Supply, Vice President of Glasco Electric and President of Sunbelt Electrical Supply. He was president of the North Texas Electrical League. In service to youth he was awarded the Silver Beaver by Boy Scouts of America and was a board member and coach at Lake Air Little League. He was a long time member of Richfield Christian Church and served as State President of the Christian Men’s Fellowship. He was a WWII Merchant Marine Veteran serving on liberty ships as Chief Steward at the age of 19. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bob McKamie and sisters, Ona Durrett, Flora Glover and Lenora Meador. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lura McKamie; sons Mick McKamie and wife, Diane and David McKamie; grandchildren, Misty, Zack, Kyle and Allison McKamie; his sisters, Wilma Martin and Eloise Holder, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
