Efigenia Lopez

Efigenia Lopez, 97, of Waco passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017, surrounded by her family at her residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be 8:00 a.m., Saturday, July 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Benjamin Magnaye officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Rosary will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 30, followed by visitation at Wilkirson­Hatch-Bailey. Efigenia was born September 19, 1919, in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Luis and Felicitas Martinez. She married Joe Lopez, the love of her life, on December 28, 1949. They were blessed to be married 67 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Angelina; and her brothers, Agustin, Nicolas, Luis, and Rev. Rafael. Efigenia is survived by her husband; her son, Jesse Lopez and wife, Rosie; her daughters, Lupe Miller and husband, Pete, Fay Gutierrez and husband, Nicolas, and Martha Thomas and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Louis Gutierrez and wife, Ann, Monica Gutierrez, Stephen Thomas and wife, Sabrina, Stephanie James and husband, Jared, Patty Miller, Danny Lopez, Tony Miller, Sergio Lopez and Ricky Lopez; great grandchildren, Luis, Cris, Lilly, Mary Joe; and a new granddaughter arriving in November. She is also survived by her sisters, Lupe and Celia; brother, Jose; and many nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Francis C. Torres and Yolanda Ramirez, who cared for Efigenia with much love and patience. The family gives a special thanks to Hospice and Visiting Angels.
