Elmer E. Hinson August 24, 1922 September 20, 2008 Elmer E. Hinson, of Waco, was called home to be with his Lord on Sept. 20, 2008. Services will be held 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Dr. Randy Hughes and Rev Jimmy Spann co-officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Elmer was born August 24, 1922 in Eddy, TX, to Sardis DeWitt and Allie Gertrue Pratt Hinson. He attended school in Bruceville/Eddy and graduated from high school in 1939. During WWII Elmer served in the U. S. Navy. In 1945, he married Ora Mae Grusendorf, his wife of 63 years. As a long time resident of Waco, Elmer worked for over 30 years for Caldwell Electric Co., and later for Industrial Electric Co. until his retirement. He was a life long fan of Baylor University. One of his favorite pastimes was parking cars for Baylor football games, which he faithfully did for over 55 years, until his untimely passing. He was a faithful member, deacon and servant of the former Memorial Baptist Church. While a member there he also served as usher, Sunday School teacher, choir member and member of numerous committees. His favorite pastimes included playing golf, fishing and family. He was currently a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Elmer is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Clarence and Ray Hinson. He is survived by his wife, Ora Mae; sons, Randy and wife June, of Houston, Larry and wife Sue, of Spring; grandchildren Jennifer Dalton, Brandi Branch, Miriam Hinson, Micah Hinson and Rebecca Hinson; two great-grandchildren, Josiah and Alissa Dalton of Houston. He is also survived by his brother Bryant Hinson and wife Betty of Marlin; sisters Helen Necker and husband George of Perry, and Eula Little of Waco. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Larry Jones, Tommy Grusendorf, Ron Grusendorf, Marshall Holloway, Chris Branch, Chris Dalton, Josiah Dalton, and Walter Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Class of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
