Emma S. Carrizales

Emma S. Carrizales of Waco, age 90, passed away peacefully to her Heavenly home early Saturday, August 20, 2016. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 24 in the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Pastor Susan Finck officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. Emma was born to parents, Jesus Serrato, Sr. and Delfina Quinones Serrato on October 30, 1925 in Waco, Texas. Emma was baptized and was a lifelong member of El Calvario Presbyterian Church and was ordained as Deacon in 2003. She was a woman of great faith who passed on Christ’s teachings to her children and grandchildren with stories, prayer and song. She loved to sing! On February 13, 1947 she married Paul Carrizales. Together they raised four children. She was a homemaker and loved to cook for family and guests. She took great pride in her family. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Henry L. Carrizales; grandsons, John Paul Gonzales and Christopher John Fraga (Kito); two sisters, two brothers, and her beloved dog, Whitney Lou. Survivors include her children, Gloria J. Gonzales and husband, Johnny; Delores Yanez and husband, Jaime; Evonne Fraga and husband, Robert; her brother, Paul Serrato, Sr., of Dallas; her sisters, Jolanda Resendez, of Wichita, Kansas; and Lydia Torres, of Fort Worth; and devoted sister-in-law, Carmen Carrizales. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Johnny T. Gonzales, Jaime Yanez, Paul M. Rodriguez, David H. Rodriguez, Andrew J. Alvarez, and Anthony J. Alvarez. Honorary pallbearers are Santiago Fraga, Robert Fraga, Alexander J. Alvarez, Elijah Joel Rodriguez, and Joe A. Ramirez. The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving healthcare that was provided to our mother by the healthcare team at Providence Health Center, 3 South, and also for the outstanding support, love, and care we received from all the Providence Hospice staff.
