EUGENE GENE PRICKETTE Eugene Gene Charles Prickette, 85, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, died in Waco Saturday, June 7, 2003. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Bosque Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd., with Dr. John Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 9 at the funeral home. Gene was born November 30, 1917, to Bernard Earl Prickette and Louisa Harriet Freeman Prickette in Columbus, Texas, the third of four children. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Doris Foster Prickette; son, John F. Prickette, Sr. and his wife Linda of Dallas; daughter, Dr. Janice Prickette Carson of Cedar Hill; grandsons, John F. Prickette, Jr. of Sulphur Springs, Robert M. Bagley III of Dallas and Jason C. Bagley of Euless; granddaughter Paige Prickette Aran and husband Jace of Mobile, Alabama; great-grandson, Holden Aran of Mobile; and numerous nieces and nephews. He attended Waco High School and was a partner in the family business, Huaco Gardens Produce Company, through 1960. He was employed by General Tire and the McLennan County Tax Office from 1960 to 1973. Gene was elected McLennan County Tax Assessor and Collector in 1973. He was elected to four terms as Tax Assessor and Collector, the last three terms being without an opponent. He retired in 1988 at the age of 71. Gene was a member of First Baptist Church of Waco from 1940 to present, where he was a Deacon and involved in many church activities. He was a member of the Waco Police Reserve 1954-1973; member, Southwest Football Officials Association 1954-1967; Director, Waco Girls Club 1980-1990; member, Waco Farm and Ranch Club 1972-present; President, Waco Kiwanis Club and Lt. Governor of Division 23; founder and member, Waco Kiwanis Club Seniors 1985-present; member, Barbed Wire Collector Association 1982-1992; member, Texas Grand Mason Lodge; member, Order of Scottish Rite; member, Order of the Shrine; member, Clown Unit of Karem Temple; member, Fonce Club; member, Knife and Fork Club; lifetime member, North American Hunting Club and many other organizations. Gene was a longtime supporter of Baylor University and the Baylor Bears athletic teams. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Pallbearers will be Walter Abercrombie, Andy Harwell, Darwin Miller, George Roper, Eddie Slough, Grant Teaff, Fred Logan, and Wayne Ferguson.
