STEPHENS, EUNICE MAXWELL KUNDERT Eunice Maxwell Kundert Stephens, of Waco, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004 at a local nursing home. Memorial services will be at 1:30pm Thursday, October 7 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. Mrs. Stephens was a life-long resident of Waco. She graduated from Waco High School and attended Baylor University. She married Leon E. Kundert on April 23, 1932; he died July 19, 1966. On March 11, 1970 she married William R. Stephens; he died January 10, 1988. Mrs. Stephens was on the staff at Hillcrest Baptist Hospital, now Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, for 25 years. In January of 1945 she was elected to serve as Religious Hostess. In 1958 she was appointed Coordinator of Volunteer Services and served in this capacity until her retirement in 1970. She was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, Baylor Round Table, Texas Branch Huguenot Society, Hamilton House and Friday Luncheon Club. She was a past member of the Pierian Club, the Altrusa Club of Waco, and a board member of the Heart of Texas Arthritis Foundation. In 1962 she was presented a Life Membership to the Hillcrest Auxiliary. Survivors include niece, Ann Caskey Brotherton of Charleston, West Virginia; and several great nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the W. R. Stephens Chemistry Graduate Student Scholarship Fund at Baylor University, the Mission Program at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church or one’s favorite charity.
