Memorial Service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 21, at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church. Jeanne was born September 5, 1936, in Douglasville, Georgia, to Bessie and Wilton Williams. She graduated Douglasville County High School in 1954, and was salutatorian of her class. She married Lowell Nathaniel Shead on August 20, 1954. They would have celebrated their 59th anniversary this week. Jeanne worked until her children were born, then chose to stay at home for the next 13 years. After a relocation of her husband's employment to Spartanburg, South Carolina, she owned and operated a bicycle and locksmith shop for five years. Later, she worked at her church, First Baptist of Spartanburg, South Carolina, as a staff secretary for 15 years. She was also a choir member for 24 years, worked with a children's class, and taught a ladies Sunday School class. In 1996, Jeanne and Lowell moved to Waco to be near their children. They were members of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church and the Boundless Love Sunday School class. And, of course, Jeanne loved singing in the choir! Jeanne was a 25-year hospice volunteer and served most recently for Providence Hospice. She also worked with Meals-on-Wheels and Internationals. Jeanne loved her family, her church and many friends, music, poetry and art, and she loved Texas as her adopted home. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Jerry. Jeanne is survived by her husband, Lowell Nathaniel Shead; son, Russell Nathaniel Shead and his wife, Carol; grandchildren, Taylor Nathaniel Shead and Daniel Beattie Shead of North Richland Hills, TX; daughter, Cynthia Jean Kirk of Orlando, Florida, grandchildren, Morgan Smith Kirk of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Bailey Mackenzie Kirk of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Amy Dianne Easley; grandchildren, Elizabeth Erin Easley and Alexander Richard Easley of Waco; sister, Martha Ann Little and husband, Curtis; sister-in-law, Ann Wlliams; and brother, Tommy Williams; and various nieces and nephews.
