Frank Herrera March 16, 1924 - June 1, 2011 Frank Herrera of Waco passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 4, at St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph F. Geleney, Jr., as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 3, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Frank was born March 16, 1924, in Waco, to Florentino and Juanita Herrera. He served our country in the U.S. Army, fought in the European Theater, was a POW in Germany and was honorably discharged as a SGT E5. He retired from the VA Medical Center after 32 years as a nursing assistant. Frank was a member of St. Mary's. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Mercedes Montoya and Antonia Martinez; and brother, Florentino Herrera Jr. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carlotta Garcia Herrera; daughters, Diane Perez and husband, Felipe, Mary Helen Villarreal and husband, Erny, Sister Barbara Jean Herrera and Elizabeth Ann Navara and husband, Ernie; sons, Benjamin Herrera, and John Anthony Herrera and wife, Lisa; four grandchildren, Elidia Keltner, Diana Matute, Natalie Navara and Susana Herrera; two great grandchildren, Victor and Olivia Keltner; sisters, Hilaria Espinoza, Matilda Sanchez, and Mary Ordones; brothers, Phillip Herrera, Robert Herrera, Benny Herrera, and Freddy Herrera. Pallbearers are Phillip Herrera, Robert Herrera, Benny Herrera, Freddy Herrera, George Villa and John Ordonez, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Rey Salinas, Menardo Tristan and Ricardo Hernandez.
