Frank Roberts March 10, 1915 - February 14, 2009 Frank Roberts of Waco completed his life journey on Saturday, February 14, 2009. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 17 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Frank was born March 10, 1915 in Bartlett, TX, to Maborne and Jessie Roberts. He married Marjorie McMullan, of Corsicana, on Jan. 3, 1947. Frank grew up on a farm with a strong work ethic and excelled in his school studies. After graduation, he moved to Temple, where he owned the Shamrock Caf from 1936-1943. He was drafted in WWII and served with the 7th Army, 260 Combat Engineer. After the war, Frank moved to Waco where he opened the Shamrock Caf, on LaSalle. The drive-in was popular with city residents, high school and Baylor students. In 1952, Frank began a new career with General Electric Supply, in Waco. In 1956, he became a sales counselor for GE's major appliance division. He received the GE National Sales Counselor Award three times over his sales career. He retired in 1980 and began working part-time for Woody Jackson Chevrolet, McGregor, until 1983. In retirement, he delivered for Cogdell Methodist's Meals on Wheels ministry. Frank also served as Sunday school superintendent for Brookview and Cogdell Methodist Churches for over 30 years. Because of his love of 42, games and fellowship, he helped organize and name the Half Century Club, at Cogdell, a group of senior adults who continue to meet bi-monthly. Frank had a passion for baseball and volunteered as an assistant and head coach for both Little and Jr. Teenage Leagues Baseball from 1964-72. Although he never attended Baylor, Frank was an avid Baylor sports fan. For 50 years he worked at the Baylor stadium main parking gate and, later, the VIP/RV parking. He was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents; a brother, Aubrey; sister, Irene; and son-in-law, Lanny Garner. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marge; son, Frank Roberts, Jr. and wife, Judy of Harker Heights, TX; daughter, Ronda Garner of Panhandle, TX; sons, Randall Roberts and wife, Brenda of Hewitt, TX; Robin Roberts and wife, Susan of Evergreen, CO. Frank was blessed with six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cogdell Memorial United Methodist Church, 1201 W.
