During her school years, the family moved many times due to her father's work in the oil fields of Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Louisiana. In 1945, at the age of 16, Frieda graduated from Port Neches High School. She attended Lamar College and Louisiana State University, graduating from Baylor University in 1950. It was in a history class at Baylor University where she caught the eye of fellow student, Daniel Raburn White. Frieda and Dan were married December 23, 1950, at First Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, La. Their commitment to God's service took them to New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. From 1953 to 1960 they lived in Breaux Bridge, La. while Dan served as pastor of First Baptist Church. In 1960, they were called into full-time service with the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board, first attending language school in San Jose, Costa Rica. From 1962 to 1991, they served in ministry throughout Spain, including ten years in the Canary Islands. As a missionary, Frieda was a choir director, church pianist, Sunday School and Bible study teacher, a friend and mentor to new missionary wives, and even a cook at mission meetings and church camps. Her most treasured roles were as a loving wife to Dan; mother, teacher, and role model to her three daughters; and adoring grandmother to her grandchildren. After retirement, Frieda and Dan returned to Waco in 1991. She led an active retirement, serving as an English as a Second Language teacher at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, a member of the CABC Senior Adult Choir, and a volunteer with the Auxiliary at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. In 2007, after Dan's passing, Frieda moved to Hopedale, Ill., to be near her daughter Anna and family. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Max Bryson. She is survived by her daughters, Lynne Buscaino and husband, Al, of Clearwater, Florida; Mary Pyne and husband, Paul, of East Greenwich, Rhode Island; and Anna Buehrer and husband, Kent, of Tremont, Ill.; grandchildren, Jessica Noel and husband John, Natalie Fletcher, Erin Pyne, Neal Pyne, Bryson Buehrer and Sarah Buehrer; step-mother Jeanette Bryson of Morgan City, La. and her children; sister-in-law Ethel Bryson and her children. She also loved and welcomed to the family, Robert Buscaino, Peter Buscaino and Kelcy Buscaino. Memorial gifts may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center Auxiliary, 3000 Herring, Waco, Texas 76708, or Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Fwy., Ste. 250, Dallas, Texas 75244.
