Gay Winifred Grossenbacher King September 5, 1960-January 10, 2016 Gay King was born in Waco, Texas, on September 5, 1960 and died peacefully on Sunday, January 10, 2016. A worship service celebrating Gay's life will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Aaron M. G. Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Following the interment, the family invites you to a reception in their home. She was born to Margie Hackbarth Grossenbacher and Clyde Rudolph Grossenbacher. Gay was a charter student at Vanguard College Preparatory School and she attended the University of Texas Permian Basin and Baylor University. Gay and her husband, Marc, lived in Midland, where they raised their family for ten years. Gay was a member of the Junior League of Midland and made many lifelong friends there. Gay and Jessie Nelson were married in 2002 and had a daughter, Winnie Nelson. Gay and Winnie have lived in Austin, Texas, for the last eight years. Gay spent most of her time with her children and grandchildren in Austin and Waco and maintained lifelong friendships. Gay's children describe her as generous, brilliant, witty, loyal, outspoken, selfless, music-loving, and unique in every way. Gay was preceded in death by her fathers, Rudy Grossenbacher and Harris B. Allen, Jr. She is survived by her mother, Margie Grossenbacher Allen; daughter, Marjorie Rose King Parker and husband, Silas, son, Marc Edgar "Eddie" King, Jr. and wife, Leighton, and daughter, Winifred Elizabeth "Winnie" Nelson; three grandchildren, August Rudolph Parker, Marc Edgar "Tritt" King III and Rheagan Elaine King; sisters, Rose Elise Grossenbacher and Claire Allen Moore and husband, Carey; her aunt, Helen Hackbarth Allen and husband, Joe B.; nephew, Russell Whatley Loper, Jr., niece, Meredith Allen Moore, and many other family members and loved ones. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Walter G. Lacy III, James Barnes, William H. Smith, Jr., F. H. "Buzz" Mills, William R. Pakis, Donald J. Young, Joshua Roberts, Julian Oates, Charles Stone and Michael Spear. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Alban's Episcopal Endowment Fund (305 N. 30th Street, Waco, TX 76710) or Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd (3201 Windsor Road, Austin, TX 78703).
