September 29, 1913 — December 12, 2002

GENE MICHAEL Gene Ervin Michael, 89, of Waco, was called home to his Lord and Savior Thursday December 12, 2002 from a local nursing home. His life will be celebrated 1:30pm Thursday December 19th at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial North, the Rev. Don Boling officiating. A visitation for friends and family will begin 6pm until 8pm Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Gene was born September 29, 1913 in Boise, Idaho. He graduated from Brownwood High School and attended Daniel Baker College where he excelled in his studies and playing the saxophone. He was married to Leora Whitlock in Coleman, TX on December 31, 1936. Gene served his country during WWII building ships in Houston, TX. He and his family have resided in Waco since 1945, where he managed the meat market in Safeway Food Stores until his retirement in 1978. He was a faithful member of Highland Baptist Church serving as a Deacon and teacher of Junior Boys. His godly influence is still bearing fruit in many lives. This was a man loved, admired and respected by all whose paths crossed his; friends, neighbors, co-workers and especially his family.
