Gerald A. Jerry Yost

June 22, 2004 — April 17, 2004

YOST, GERALD Gerald A. “Jerry” Yost beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend went to be with the Lord April 17, 2004 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at St. Louis Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Rosary will be recited at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Born June 22, 1929, he cherished memories of growing up on a farm in Blackfoot, Idaho. He attended Georgia Tech, followed by service in the Air Force. While stationed in Waco, he met his future bride, Shirley Vitrano Yost, who he married in 1952. An outgoing and personable man, Jerry will be missed by all and remembered for his warm smile, hearty laugh and sweet spirit. It can truly be said that he never met a stranger. He touched many lives with his warmth and cheerful personality that always brightened a room with his presence. Undaunted by his illness, he saw each day as a blessing and a gift from God. He leaves us a legacy and shining example of his unconditional love, kindness and generosity. Jerry worked in television sales for KWTX-TV for 42 years. He was President of the Waco Ad Club and a member of the Rotary Club of Waco. One of the highlights of his career was the “This is your Life, Jerry Yost” day honoring him by the Waco Ad Club. He had a life long love of the outdoors. Some of his favorite memories were of hunting and fishing with his son, friends, and relatives. In recent years, an annual fly-fishing trip to Montana with family was one of the highpoints of the year. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Vitrano Yost, of Waco; son, David Allan Yost of Dallas; daughter, Sherri and husband John Edrington; grandchildren, Ashley Edrington and Austin Edrington of Dallas; brother and sister-in-law Frank and Jane Vitrano of Midland; niece, Linda Ann Vitrano Sproles and nephew Tony Vitrano and wife Janice, all of Midland, Texas; niece, Trish and Bill Clements and niece Joan and Robert Felt, all of Seattle, Washington.
