Hazel Patterson Bailey August 15, 1917 - December 29, 2009 Hazel Patterson Bailey passed on to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at Regent Care Center after a short illness. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Ramsdell officiating. Entombment will follow at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum on I35 South. Mrs. Bailey will be in state at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Hazel was born on August 15, 1917, to John M. and Mary E. Connally Patterson in Osceola, Texas, in Hill County. Her mother's first cousin was U.S. Senator Tom Connally of Marlin. She was reared and educated in Hillsboro, and had been a resident of the Waco area since 1943. She was married to Odell Bailey in 1940. After 61 happy years together, he preceded her in death in March, 2002. Mrs. Bailey was in the personnel business locally for 17 years and was also involved with nutrition for many years. She had been a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Business and Professional Women, and Rosson Study Club. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; her son-in-law, Peeler Williams, III; by five brothers, Charlie, Earl, Paul, Forest and Donald Patterson; and three sisters, Gladys Patterson, Bernice Patterson & Evelyn Dumas. Survivors include her only daughter, Pamela Williams; one sister-in-law, Jerry Patterson; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of friends; and her grand dog, Emperor. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews and members of the Wesleyan Workers Class of First United Methodist Church.
