April 30, 1906 — March 23, 2001

GIRLINGHOUSE, HAZEL Hazel Gilmore Watson Girlinghouse of Waco died Friday, March 23, 2001 at a local nursing home. Memorial services will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday, March 24, 2001 at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. Jack Myers officiating. Visitation with the family will begin 1 hour prior to service time at the mausoleum chapel. Mrs. Girlinghouse was born in Moody to Bruce and Myrtie Welborn Gilmore. Mr. Gilmore was postmaster in McGregor for a number of years. After her high school education she won a scholarship to business school in Waco. Upon completing school, she worked at Colgin Hospital and Clinic for twelve years until it closed. She then worked for the doctors Crosthwait at their clinic for six years. She then worked for Dr. C.T. Collins, an obstetrician/gynecologist, for the next sixteen years. She retired in 1960. She married Boyles McDonald “Don” Watson November 23, 1932, and their only child, Donald Bruce Watson, who preceded her in death in 1987, was born on November 23, 1933. Her husband, “Don” Watson, died February 1956, and in July 1958, she married Col. Gus N. Girlinghouse, who also preceded her in death. Her husband, “Don” Watson, was very active in Karem Shrine and was a member of the Marching Patrol. Hazel was also very active in the Daughters of the Nile. Others preceding her in death were her twin brother, Jim Gilmore of McGregor, her sisters, Ola Mae Gilmore Jones of Marlin, Mary Gilmore Hartley Coffelt, Bruce Gilmore Davis of McGregor, Margaret Gilmore Collins of Marlin and her brother, Harry Gilmore of Alvin, TX. Survivors include: A granddaughter: Susan Watson White of Kaufman A grandson: David Bruce Watson of Austin Her late son’s widow: Belva Stanton Watson Fuller and her husband, Onas T. Fuller, Sr. of Waco Two great grandsons: Garrett Donald White of Kaufman Brandon McDonald Watson of Arlington and Austin And a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
