Helen Manchen January 28, 1919 - September 24, 2009 Helen Genette Manchen of Waco passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009, at home surrounded by her family. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 28, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Minister Ernie Christie officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, September 27, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Helen was born January 28, 1919, in Lancaster, Texas, to Clarence and Ruth Davis. She attended school in Lancaster, and Draughon's Business College in Dallas. She worked as a secretary for many years before and after she and Lewis married in 1939. Helen was a longtime member of the Church of Christ, and had been attending Lake Shore Drive Church of Christ since moving to Waco. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 69 years, Lewis Michael Manchen; two sisters; and a brother. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Hooten, and husband, David; granddaughter, Kate; and grandson, Joseph and his wife, Lori; three great granddaughters, Elizabeth, Louisa and Julia.
