Helen Louise Hooper Ledbetter April 24, 1924 - November 28, 2005 Helen Louise Ledbetter went to be with her Lord surrounded by her family on Monday, November 28, 2005. Services will be at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey Funeral Home with Dr. Raymond Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Helen graduated from Waco High School in 1941. She graduated from Baylor University in 1945 with a degree in Elementary Education. She married Pat Ledbetter in 1946 after he returned from the war and in June of this year they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. They had three children—Jane, Susan and Doug. After being a homemaker for many years, Helen began teaching school when her children were in high school. She taught for almost 20 years in Waco ISD, beginning as a first grade teacher at Mountainview Elementary followed by teaching second grade at Lake Waco Elementary. After retirement she stayed very busy with her friends, gardening, antiquing, different organizations, and her church activities at 7th & James Baptist Church. Most of all she spent wonderful times with her family, especially her grandchildren. Helen is survived by her husband, Pat Ledbetter; her daughter, Jane Groves and husband, David; her daughter, Susan Thrift and her son, Doug Ledbetter and wife Cindy. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Brad Thrift and wife, Keri, Brooke Thrift, Lori Wadsworth and husband, Josh, Cory Ledbetter and wife, Lori, and Caitlin Groves. She leaves behind five great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Jim Hooper and wife, Lori and her cousin, Cleta Bennett.
