Helen T. Sermas September 30, 1915 - July 21, 2012 Helen T. Sermas of Waco passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Father Daniel Payne and Father Theodore Ted Tsitsilianos officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Trisagion will be 7:00 p.m.Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with visitation to follow. Helen was born September 30, 1915 in Sag Harbor, New York to John and Patricia Bakos. She and her parents re-immigrated to Greece and she returned to the states after WWII. She married her husband in New York before moving to Waco in 1948. She lost her husband tragically in the 1953 Waco Tornado. As a single parent, she raised three successful children. She was an active member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and was well known for her baking and culinary skills. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Evaggelos A. Sermas and son Chris E. Sermas, M.D. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Sermas; son, Angelo Sermas, M.D. and his wife Marsha Soechting, M.D. and five grandchildren, Evan, Stephanie, Jonathan, Ryan and Patrick Sermas. The family would like to thank all who loved and supported her throughout her life and brief illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church 617 N. 17th Street, Waco, TX 76707, Holy Archangels Greek Orthodox Monastery, P.O.
