Herman John Braun September 1, 1921 - April 10, 2013 Herman John Braun, 91, of Waco passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at a Waco nursing home. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 15, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. LeAnne Ryan officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery in West. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 14, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Herman was born September 1, 1921, in Levi, Texas, to F.B. and Louise Reid Braun. Herman was baptized into the Lutheran faith at St. John's Church in Robinson, TX. He grew up in the Crawford/Ocee area and attended the Old Highland School. He graduated from Waco High School, Class of 1940. He was an Army Air Corps veteran, serving as an aircraft mechanic at the B-24 bomber training command at Liberal, Kansas, during World War II. Mr. Braun went to work for Central Forwarding Moving and Storage of Waco in 1946. He retired as branch manager in 1985. He married Sallie Margaret McMillan on June 28, 1947. They were married for 56 years. Throughout his life, Herman enjoyed gardening, designing and building trailers, repairing cars, and metal and woodworking in his home shop. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sallie; and brother, Otto Dock Braun. He is survived by sons, Richard J. Braun of Waco, and Michael H. Braun and wife, Sherryl, of Fort Worth; and granddaughter, Lauren Michelle Braun.
