Herman John Quinius, Jr. August 21, 1924 - March 11, 2010 Herman John Quinius, Jr., of Waco passed away peacefully with family at his side, Thursday, March 11, 2010. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 13, at Lakewood Christian Church with the Rev. Jack Mullins officiating. A private family burial will follow. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 12, at Eden House, 2611 Lake Air Drive. Herman was born August 21, 1924, in Waco. He attended Sanger Ave. Elementary School and graduated from Waco High School in 1941. He attended Texas Tech and Texas A&M and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1949 with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. He taught agriculture in Limestone and McLennan counties and worked for the U.S. Soil and Conservation Service. In 1951, he established Quinius Pest Control, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1983. In 1951 he married Marjorie Jane Warren of Waco, and they were married for 58 years. Herman was a founding member of Lakewood Christian Church. He loved his church and served there as trustee, board chairman, treasurer, elder, elder emeritus and deacon. After his retirement, Herman spent much of his time working at his pecan and fruit orchard on Lake Brazos. He had had many hobbies, and particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved playing bridge with friends. Herman was very close to his three grandchildren, Blair, Kate and Meg, and rarely missed their school and sports activities from Pre-K through high school. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; his son, John Quinius and wife, Melinda; three grandchildren, Blair, Kate and Meg; sister-in-law, Katherine Arrowood; nieces and nephews, Ranell Fonte, Bradley and Alicia Arrowood; cousins, Beverly Quinius, Larry Quinius, Lou Quinius and Mary Louise Pinson. Honorary pallbearers are Maynard Miller, Walt Winter, Leslie DuPuy, Charles Olson, Dick Farley, Dr. Brad Willis and the men of Lakewood Christian Church.
