SIMPSON, HOWARD JAY Howard Simpson, avid hunter, skeet-shooter, card player, world traveler and a true friend, died August 2, 2005 after a brief illness. Graveside services will be held at 9:00am, Thursday, August 4, Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Monsignor Mark Deering officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Wednesday, August 3, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Howard Jay Simpson was born May 28, 1936 in Fort Worth, to William J. and Alice Holland Simpson. Howard was a twin. His surviving brother is Leonard Ray Simpson of Waco. It was in Harlingen High School that Howard met the love of his life, Rose Twinn. High school sweethearts, they became soul-mates, which continued for 49 years, He attended A&I University in Kingsville and married Rose. They then moved to Waco in 1961. Howard and his twin brother, Leonard were in business together at Leonard’s Truck Parts Equipment, Inc. for over 35 years. Howard was an avid tennis player, served on the board of The Waco Gun Club and enjoyed hunting with his “special buddies.” Howard is survived by his loving wife, Rose of Waco; daughters, Laurie Marken and husband Donald of Springfield, Missouri, Stephanie Simpson of South Yarmouth, Massachusetts; brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Leellyn Simpson of Waco; sister, Linda Bence and husband Leon of Harlingen; grandchildren, Lauren, Dylan and Blair Marken and several nieces and nephews. Howard is also survived by his beloved dogs, Bernie and Beegee. Memorials may be made to Fuzzy Friends Rescue or to the charity of choice.
