SCHAEVITZ, JACK Jack Schaevitz, of Waco, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2004. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28 at Congregation Agudath Jacob with Rabbi Gordon Fuller officiating. Interment will follow at Agudath Jacob Cemetery. Mr. Schaevitz was born on May 26, 1911. He moved to Waco in 1948 from Youngstown, Ohio. In 1949 he opened the Health Camp on the Circle, which remains in operation today. He was a member of Congregation Agudath Jacob, serving as President in 1986 and Board member for several years. He was also a member of B’nai B’rith and Hadassah Associates. In 2001, he was honored by the Jewish Federation of Waco for his ongoing commitment to relieving hunger and loneliness. He was dedicated to raising funds for the Jewish Federation of Waco. Mr. Schaevitz started the first Jewish Boy Scout Troup in Waco. Serving over 20 years, he was a very active member in Waco’s Boy Scout Council, receiving their highest award, the Silver Beaver, for volunteer service. He was a volunteer for many years at Caritas, serving on the Board as Chairman, chairing their Thrift Store Committee, and working in the thrift stores. In addition, he did volunteer work with SCORE, providing his business expertise to young entrepreneurs, and served as Chapter Chairman in 1999. Survivors include his sons, Ronald N. Schaevitz of Lynnwood, WA, and Alan Y. Schaevitz of San Rafael, CA; and grandchildren, Sam Schaevitz of Fremont, CA, and Rebecca Schaevitz of San Rafael, CA.
