Jake Whaley September 22, 1939 - March 2, 2010 Jake Whaley of Waco passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at his home surrounded by family and friends. Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 4, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Roger Huff officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Jake was born September 22, 1939, in Waco to Jake Whaley and Tynie Davis King. He graduated from LaVega High School in 1958 and worked in the Sheet Metal industry for 40 years. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He and Betty Altum were married on August 30, 1974 and they have been active members of the Community Fellowship Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandmother, Lillian Davis. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Whaley of Waco; godsons, Kevin Lightfoot and Keith Lightfoot; his "kids", Tracy and Paula Lightfoot; special uncle, Fred Radle; special cousins, Ronnie Davis and wife, Phyllis; and Janice Felkner and husband, Henry; and numerous dear friends. Pallbearers are Tracy Lightfoot, Kevin Lightfoot, Keith Lightfoot, Mike Dameron, Bill Hinnen and Joe Dobias. Honorary pallbearers are his "fellow domino players and hunting buddies".
