WOOTEN, JAMES James Albert Wooten, 81 of Waco, died Thursday, October 14, 2004 at his residence. Services will be at 1:30pm Saturday, October 16 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Ramsdell officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Friday, October 15 at the funeral home. Mr. Wooten was born December 30, 1922 in Waco to George M. and Medina Federwich Wooten. He was a veteran of U.S. Army Air Forces during W.W.II. He received numerous decorations including the good conduct medal and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze stars. He married June Hurley September 4, 1954; they had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He was a home builder and enjoyed hobbies of gardening, fishing, and many outdoor activities. Mr. Wooten was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church, V.F. W. Post #2148 and American Legion Post #121. He was a past vice president of Waco Home Builders Association. Some of his best times were spent playing shuffle board with his friends at the V.F.W. Survivors include wife, June Wooten of Waco, daughter, Sharon Tucker of Woodway, son, J. Anthony Wooten of Waco, grandchildren, Kristen and T. J. Tucker, sister, Juanita Wilkins and husband, George of Waco, brother, Doil Wooten and wife, Ann of Woodway and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Doil Wooten, George Wilkins, Joe Martinez, Tracy Copeland, Jack Lane, and Wayne Redding. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or V.F.W.
