COX, JAMES James Cox, age 64, of Bruceville died Monday, October 28, 2002 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 11:30am Friday, November 1 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. Stephen Ramsdell officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Mr. Cox was born March 22, 1938 in Fort Stockton, Texas to Albert Presley and Thelma Lee Cox and reared in Imperial, Texas. He graduated from high school at Buena Vista and later Sul Ross State College in 1967. He served in the U. S. Army from August 1963 to July 1965 in the 2nd Battalion, 54th Infantry and was stationed in Bamberg, Germany. James was a teacher, football coach and athletic director. He worked in various schools, including Brownfield, Mansfield, Comfort, Rising Star and Bruceville-Eddy ISD’s, where he was athletic director and retired in 1998. He loved to golf. Survivors include his wife, Doris Cox of Bruceville, daughters, Vickie Matus of West and Jamie and Jana Cox of Bruceville and granddaughter, Lexi Matus.
