James Edward Jones July 28, 1924 - April 21, 2011 James "Jim" Edward Jones of Waco passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Jim was born July 28, 1924, in San Antonio, Texas, to Sam and Iva Jones. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a survivor of Iwo Jima. After returning from active duty, he attended and was a member of the SMU football team. He was retired from AT&T; he was a member of Karem Shrine Temple and of First United Methodist Church of Waco. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Lee Jones. He is survived by his daughter, Denny Gay Patterson, of Dallas; son, James Joseph Jones, of Austin; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
