Jeanne Barrett passed away on January 7, 2018, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 12, at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Leslie King officiating. Jeanne was born Dorris Jeanne Tucker in Waco, Texas, on October 8, 1928, to James and Eva Tucker and was raised in Comanche, Texas. She moved to Waco after marrying Charles Weldon Barrett on February 7, 1950. They had four children, and Jeanne was a devoted mother while supporting Charles as he built his construction company. Jeanne was a seamstress, sewing her children's clothes, and an excellent cook. Jeanne loved many activities, but her true love was cards and she was known for her prowess in bridge. She played cards with anyone who would play. Jeanne was a kind and loving spirit and will be remembered by many. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Weldon Barrett; son-in-law, Gary Payne; sister, Jimmie Kawa; and twin brother, Jerry Tucker. Jeanne is survived by sons, Jerry Barrett and wife, Carol, Terry Barrett, and Don Barrett and wife, Jeannie; daughter, Amy Payne; grandchildren, Don Barrett II, Stephanie Stone, Charles Barrett II and Jason Dalrymple; and great grandchildren, Branden Stone, Lauren Grace Barrett and Don Collins III. The family would like to thank Lake Ridge Healthy Living, Uni and all the girls, and Southern Care Hospice.
