Judith Ann Corwin October 8, 1944 September 5, 2013 Judith Ann Corwin passed away September 5, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. A graveside service will be 11:30 a.m., Monday, September 9, at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery, 6623 S. Interstate Highway 35, Waco, Texas. Visitation will be 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 9, at WilkirsonHatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco, Texas. Judith Ann Corwin was born October 8, 1944, to Nora Mae and Jean Fuller England in Valdosta, Georgia, while her father was stationed at Moody Air Force Base. The family was transferred to Michigan and then returned home to Waco, where Judy grew up with her sister, Jennifer England Ivey. Judy attended grade school in Waco and graduated from Waco High School in 1963. Following graduation, she attended The University of Texas where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She met Mike Corwin and the two married on December 22, 1965. The following year their first child, Laura, was born. Their second child, a son, Christopher Michael Corwin "Casey," was born in 1972. Judy enjoyed writing, cross-stitching and loved to travel. She made multiple trips to Europe and traveled the U.S. from coast to coast. She treasured her family, her many friends and the time they spent together. Judy was very active in the Waco community. She was a member of Lakewood Christian Church, where she was president of the Christian Women's Fellowship CWF; she was active in the Viking Hills Elementary PTA, where she served as President; and she also served as a Bluebird Group and Campfire leader. Judy also was a member of the Waco Garden Club, served on the Fort House Board of Directors and was active in the local Delta Zeta alumni chapter. Judy and Mike divorced in 1980. That same year Judy joined the Baylor University staff as an administrative assistant in the Bureau of Business Research. She also returned to school at Baylor and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1986. Judy worked for 23 years at Baylor Hankamer School of Business, retiring as the Director of Communication in 2003. During that time, Judy enhanced the school's prestige and Baylor's image through her devotion to flagship publications and programs. She served as founding Editor of the Baylor Business Review and was instrumental in the establishment and implementation of the Ben H. Williams Distinguished Speakers series. In 1996, Judy was proud to receive the inaugural Hankamer Outstanding Staff Award. Judy enjoyed membership in the Association for University Business and Economic Research AUBER. Judy was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Michael Corwin; and her parents, Jean and Nora England. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Corwin Talley and son-in-law, Chris Talley; her sister, Jennifer Ivey; three grandchildren, Christopher Michael Talley, Megan Talley, and Caroline Talley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff in San Antonio at the Laurels and Haven in Stone Oak for their love and care over the past 10 years.
