Kim Seavey

November 9, 1958 — March 18, 2018

Kim Leigh Kickliter Seavey, 59, of Tampa, Florida, peacefully entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, March 18, 2018. Kim was born in 1958 to George Kickliter and Shirley Spivey Kickliter in Laredo, Texas. She grew up in a military household, living on multiple Air Force bases in the following locations: Ohio, Arizona, Germany, Texas, Florida, Japan, Philippines and California. Upon her father’s retirement from the Air Force, Kim made Tampa her hometown. Kim attended University of Florida and University of Alabama, completing a degree in elementary education after which she became an elementary school teacher in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. After Tuscaloosa, Kim returned to Tampa where her entrepreneurial spirit inspired her to open a travel agency. She later attended Stetson Law School. After completing a Juris Doctorate degree, Kim worked as a prosecutor in criminal court. Kim then established a Children and Family law practice, and also became a judge in the Hillsborough County Court System. Kim missed teaching, so she returned to education and taught at Adams Middle School in Tampa. While working at Adams Middle School, Kim was diagnosed with cancer. She continued to work full time throughout her chemotherapy and radiation treatments, and was honored with the “Most Courageous Award” from the staff and students. Kim was predeceased by her father, George Kickliter of Parrish, Florida. She is survived by her loving son, Rayner Seavey of Orlando, Florida; Bill Seavey of Safety Harbor, Florida; her mother, Shirley Spivey Kellar and her husband, Marshal Kellar, of Abilene, Texas; her sister, Karen Kickliter Witt and husband, Cam Witt, of Basking Ridge, New Jersey; niece, Courtney Witt Vince and husband, Dan Vince, of Morristown, New Jersey; niece, Caroline Witt and her fiancé, Laszlo Vandracsek, of Rockwall, Texas; Galina Kickliter of Parrish, Florida; and numerous extended family and friends. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas, followed by a Celebration of Life at Ridgewood Country Club. Arrangements are by Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. 6101 Bosque Blvd, Waco TX 76710. Kim now rests in peace. Kim always loved angels and she has now become one. “When you lose a loved one, you gain an angel whose name you know.”
