Kota Dharma Reddy June 17, 1940 December 29, 2008 Dr. Kota Dharma Reddy of McGregor, TX passed away Monday, December 29, 2008. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2009 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 1, 2009 in the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Dr. Reddy was born June 17, 1940 in Damera, India to Kota Venkat and Rukkamma Reddy. He did his internship in Yonkers, NY from June 1968-69, he then moved to Long Island to do his Psychiatric Residency at Pilgrim State Hospital with the New York School of Psychiatry. In 1976, he joined the VA Hospital in Battle Creek, MI. In 1979, he transferred to the VA Medical Center in Waco, TX where he worked and retired after 29 years. He joined the Army Reserves in 1980 and served active duty for the Persian Gulf War, The Bosnia Mission and the Iraq War. Lt. Colonel Reddy retired from the Army Reserves in 2003 after 23 years of service. His greatest joy came from time spent with his family and friends. His favorite thing to do was to go on long walks. He loved the outdoors and had the greatest respect for nature. Kota was a positive force in this world, who always saw the best in all people and things. Dr. Reddy was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Kota Raja Reddy. Dr. Reddy is survived by his wife, Sujatha Kota Reddy of McGregor, TX; his daughters, Anitha Kota Thomisee and husband, Jeff of Fort Worth, TX; and Dr. Ajita Kota Reddy and husband, Dr. Brian Zimmerman of Asheville, NC; son, Dr. Ashok Kota Reddy of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Kesin and Naya Zimmerman; brothers, Narayan Reddy and Ram Reddy of India; sisters, Vinodha Reddy, Ammai Reddy, and Saraswathi Reddy of India; several nieces, nephews, here and in India, other family members and friends. The Reddy family would like to express a special thank you to the Nursing/Hospice staff at the Waco VA Medical Center for their loving care and support.
