DIXON, LENORA CORNWELL This caring, wonderful lady, loved by all who knew her, went to be with the Lord, her parents and brothers on Monday, January 31, 2005. Services will be at 2pm Friday, February 4 at Waco Memorial Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Wally Christian and Dr. Herbert Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7pm Thursday, February 3 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Lenora Cornwell Dixon was born August 7, 1911 to William Lee and Margaret Howe Cornwell in Roanoke, Texas. She was the youngest child with three older brothers, Marshall, Eugene and Charles, all of whom preceded her in death. Lenora graduated from Denton High School and North Texas State College. She received her Masters Degree from University of Wisconsin. She taught English and Spanish in several Texas high schools before becoming a counselor at University High School in Waco. After retiring in 1972, she spent time at their summer home in Buena Vista, Colorado. In 1992, they bought a lake home at Lake Buchanan that they enjoyed until health problems prevented them from traveling. Lenora was a member of First Methodist Church of Waco, but attended First Baptist with her life partner of 66 years until she was home bound with failing health. She married James William Dixon Jr. at First Baptist Church of Waco June 2, 1938. Survivors include husband Dr. J. W. Dixon Jr., nieces and nephews Bill and Nana Cornwell, Ann Price, and Mildred Warrick, great nieces and nephews Debra and Gary Moore, Kathy and Don Delson, Emyrs Price Chuck and Holley Cornwell, Clark and Michelle Cornwell, and Jim and Crista Hunt.
