Lorraine Fuqua July 27, 1924 - June 28, 2013 Lorraine Fuqua of Woodway passed away Friday, June 28, 2013 at Regent Care Center. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 2 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. Jerry Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 1 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Lorraine was born July 27, 1924 in Axtell, Texas to Robert C. Con Jones and Lillie Gummelt Jones. She was raised in the Cottonwood Community and graduated from Waco High School. She went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as an operator in 1942 and retired 41 years later as a Marketing Rep. She loved her coworkers and they became an extension of her own family. She was active in the Telephone Pioneer organization where she held offices and helped run meetings. She married Mark Fuqua on June 5, 1943 and they shared over 66 years together. They raised two children and spent their lives at only one address. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church where she once taught Sunday School. Lorraine had an exceptional voice and loved to sing at weddings, funerals and family gatherings. She was preceded in death by: husband, Mark; her parents; her brother, Harold Dean Jones; half brother, Kenneth Jones and son-in-law, Doyle Gillham. She is survived by daughter, Cindy Fuqua Potts and husband, Franklin, of Woodway; son, Larry Fuqua and wife, Gail, of Grapevine; grandsons Matthew Gillham and wife, Keely, Mark Gillham and wife, Amy, and Cody Fuqua and wife, Megan, ; step granddaughter, Dawn Hogue and husband, Russell; Franklin's children, Marshall, Darrell and Heather; 7 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; half sister, Pat Wright of Waco; and several nieces and nephews.
